Resorts at Sunderban The Largest Mangrove Forest

Bangladesh is a riverine country. Himalayas north of Bangladesh is the root of the thousands of rivers flow through this country. These rivers meet with Bay of Bengal at the south coast of Bangladesh. Largest mangrove forest of this earth is in this meeting point of rivers and sea, at the south coast line of Bangladesh.

'Sunderban' is the local name of this forest meaning 'beautiful forest' which is around 6017 sq.kilometer. Sunderban is consist of 334 different species of trees, 13 species of orchids, 165 species of sea corals,  186 species of birds, 210 species of fish and 269 species of wildlife. Among wildlife tiger, samber (deer), crocodile, boar and monkey are worth mentioning of. Crocodiles in this area is of a rare species and cannot be found anywhere else. These species entirely depend on fish and their long and narrow jaws are perfect for it.

At 4 February 1997 UNO declared Sunderban 522nd tradition of this earth. Since then this area was declared as national park and gradually tourism facilities was being developed. At current it is the 2nd highest tourist pulling attraction of the country next to Cox's bazar sea beach the longest natural sea beach.

Katka, is on the sea inside the reserve forest. There is a beautiful resort for tourist in this beautiful natural environment. You can watch sea waves breaking in the beach right from the balcony. You can watch deer roaming around and crocodiles at the river bank, tanning at sun. 

Kachikhali is in the south-east part of east forest range besides the sea. A beautiful tourist resort has been constructed to welcome the tourist here. Deer can be seen in  numerous here. Even tiger can be seen in the huge bushes around. There is a watch tower here from where you can look out for tigers.
Badamtala is in-between Katka and Kachikhali an extremely crowd-less sea beach.  In the winter you can see tiger foot prints in the beach here.

To visit these places permission is needed from forest department to enter and to stay at the resorts. These places are under Sharankhola range. You can reach the center of Sharankhola range 'Rayenda Bazar' from Dhaka, Chittagng, Khulna or Patuakhali. From there you have to make a journey of 5/6 hour in trawler.
